How to Handle and Prevent Online Harassment
Make sure your employees and managers know that any instance of harassment online, whether in a virtual meeting or via other online channels, must be reported straight away.
If your company is the victim of online harassment, take steps similar to how you would handle a claim of in-person harassment:
- Document the complaint thoroughly.
- Collect all the information and details of the incident; gather any additional pertinent documentation or records.
- Alert your service provider about the incident, including any security vulnerabilities that may have contributed.
- If appropriate, notify law enforcement.
- Work with your IT team to ensure your teams are implementing proper security settings.
- Train your employees on virtual communication security features, passwords, and authentication across all channels being used, to help prevent future incidents.
